Sometimes we try too Hard!!

I'm going to relate a dream
that I had many years ago and it hasn't grown old, I often repeat it to
people when it seems to have relevance and shows the need to examine issues
of our own self-importance. Maybe its just me but every time I tell it
more seems to appear, by that I mean that I see deeper and find more meanings.
In the dream, I'm on a beautiful
long beach, the tide is ebbing and as I stroll along the tidal pools catch
my attention and I notice as the tide is receding, lots of little fish
and animals are losing their lives. I see a can nearby and begin to go
to the waters edge and collect water. I walk back to the nearby pools
and pour the water in and head back for more water. Back and forth water
to pool and back I go faster and faster as the water recedes further and
further. I am getting exhausted and frustrated I realize I won't be able
to save very many. I then stop and angrily look up to the sky and ask,
What are you doing? Can't you see their dying? What are you doing?
Then the voice comes from
the sky and says," You don't think I know what I'm doing!"
OOPS! Sorry about that!
Then I'm spoken to as a
Parent who loves his son speaks to his son. He sees the good intentions
of my wanting to save life when I see it being lost and reminds me in
a gentle way; If we didn't lose life every minute of every day this world
would soon be so filled with life in every shape and form that there would
be no place to step.
I thanked him/her for this,
I'm still thankful for this and today as I retell it I'm surprised again
for I see even more in this little tale.
