Nature Farming

What is Nature Farming

Nature Farming is a type of farming system developed over many years that uses the teachings of Mokichi Okada referred to here as Meishu-Sama, to help attain the goal of the Johrei Fellowship and that is: To help establish a "Paradise on Earth" free from poverty, disease and conflict.

Nature Farming is one of the three branches of the Johrei Fellowship but is applicable for practice by all humanity.

Nature Farming differs from other forms of farming in that it includes a spiritual component. All of us who have studied spirituality deeply seem to discover that everything has a spiritual component and the spiritual proceeds the physical. To have a complete view of farming, or any so called science, one must include the spiritual component.

The ultimate goal of Kyusei Nature Farming is to save mankind based on the correct view of nature and to secure the foundation of human existence through the production of abundant healthy food, which is the most fundamental requisite of Meishu-sama's ideal, "to create paradise on earth by eradicating disease, poverty, and conflict". A typical scenario of the destruction of mankind is the occurrence of disease caused by the lack of food or harmful food, poverty caused by disease, and conflict caused by disease and poverty ( remember we are speaking of spiritual disease and spiritual poverty as well as physical, the spiritual proceeds the physical).

The practice of Nature Farming demands some very basic changes in the way we view the Earth, ourselves and our responsibilities. I have written before about Spiritual Ecology and it might be helpful if this term is not completely understood to review this writing.

The Bible talks about man having dominion over the Earth and my native heritage has caused me to have problems with this idea but if we see this as a responsibility then everything falls into place. Our work as humans is to recognize this responsibility constantly and consistently and to be forces of evolution, not involution.

The soil is a living thing, a complex union of energies and organisms that lives, breathes, reproduces and can evolve. It is not a lifeless medium for the planting of crops. It is our responsibility to help in this evolution. Our soil should be increasing in fertility and vibratory rate. Organic farming helps with the increase in fertility but decreases the vibratory rate. This is because normal compost and manures are broken down through putrification. Putrefaction lowers the vibratory rate of the soil and oxidizes or burns up much of the nutrients we are adding to the soil. Through the use of E.M. ( effective microorganisms) compost and plant residues are broken down through the action of fermentation which preserves nutrients and raises the vibratory rate. E.M. also adds anti-oxidants to the soil which helps in this preservation process.

This is the basics of Nature Farming with E.M. The practice is growing and I will try and provide information that will allow you to see for yourself the results.

Personal Experiences in Nature Farming

We at Raven Ridge will be providing hands-on workshops in Nature Farming all summer beginning May 1, 1999 and continuing every Saturday from 9 am-12 noon in Craftsbury Vermont. People are invited to attend, arrive when they can, come for an hour or the whole time, there will be no charge but small contributions will be welcomed to defer supply costs with excesses going to the Fund for the North American Sacred Grounds. All are invited to bring lunch and stay for a free Johrei clinic at 1pm. If you haven't experienced Johrei this would be a wonderful time in a beautiful setting.
